A daily guide for electronica lovers, dance enthusiasts and the curious.

DAY THREE – Thursday, March 17th

This was a tough decision but in the end DJ Three’s Hallucienda with Doc Martin & Cassy @ The Electric Pickle is definitely your best bet. I got a chance to experience the legendary Doc last year and all I can say is: GET READY! I went into it fairly blind, trusting the hearsay and reviews but luckily for me, it was excellent. In short, he takes you on a wild, adventure-filled ride and seamlessly so. His unique ability to spin everything from deep house to funky bass lines, acid, techno and everything in between is part of what makes him so lovable — along with his collection of rare and classic records, which he’s known to include in his sets. Mixing aside, he’ll also be performing live under side project Sublevel, where he shares the stage alongside Lillia, a vocalist he often collaborates with.

As for DJ Cassy, let’s just say she’s been on my “to do” list for quite some time now. Given her reputation and eclectic musical background, I’m eager to see what she’ll deliver. Considered a strong, feminine force in the realm of techno, rest assured you’re in for a special treat, navigating through warm and graceful waters but also journeying through widespread diversity and a touch of mystery at best.

In the downstairs lounge, a debut DJ set from Bill Patrick presents Saint Deny will be soaring through the atmosphere. As Saint Deny, Patrick explores electronica, dub and ambient sounds alongside the occasional stripped down, ornate house and techno you rarely (if ever) hear in a club setting. Being a downtempo lover myself, this re-introduction of an “ ambient room ” is particularly exciting and nostalgic for an old-school raver at heart.

DAY FOUR – Friday, March 18th

Seth Troxler @ Basement is where it’s at and a no brainer on my end. I’m not typically a fan of SoBe venues — much less a club that’s located on the inside of some fancy hotel, but Basement is one of few exceptions to that rule. Besides, a DJ set from Seth is totally worth the hassle. If you’ve never caught him before, please make it a point to do so this year and as soon as possible. In terms of style, he’s a cross between deep house, minimal and some seriously edgy techno. What I love most is that the experience is totally unpredictable and more often than not, his selection in music feels otherworldly, dark and delicious. The irony in all this is that Seth himself, from what I’ve gathered over the years, has an incredibly light-hearted and wacky personality, which you would never guess judging by the music he puts out. And if my powers of persuasion aren’t enough, consider that he’s ranked #1 and #2 in RA’s Top 100 DJ Poll, No. 1 tech house DJ in 2012 per Ibiza DJ Awards and No. 13 (of 25) DJs that rule the world according to Rolling Stone. Awards aside, he’s also the head of Visionquest, a DJ collective and record label, and has recently launched 3 additional labels to boot: Tuskegee, Soft Touch and Play It, Say It.
